Anthropic has signed a deal to rent approximately $45 billion in AI compute from Nscale, a British AI infrastructure company founded in 2024, according to a source familiar with the agreement.

Nscale will supply compute using Nvidia’s Vera Rubin chip system, and the capacity is expected to power Anthropic‘s services starting in late 2027.

The six-year deal, first reported by Bloomberg, draws computing power from Nscale‘s flagship data center in West Virginia.

This is the latest in a series of major compute partnerships for Anthropic over the past eight months, including a $10 billion deal with AI cloud startup Volta (using a data center in Norway), a $5 billion compute deal with AMD, and a large deal with SpaceX that reportedly provides $1.

25 billion in capacity per month from two data centers.

In April, Anthropic also expanded its partnership with Amazon to gain an additional 5 gigawatts of compute, and similarly expanded relationships with Google and Broadcom.

Anthropic is part of a broader industry trend where major AI players like Google, OpenAI, and Meta are aggressively securing compute capacity.
