Nscale adds Fidji Simo to board ahead of IPO

Nscale, the U.K.-based AI data center startup, has appointed former OpenAI, Meta, and Instacart executive Fidji Simo to its board. She joins Sheryl Sandberg, Susan Decker, and Nick Clegg as Nscale prepares for an anticipated IPO this fall. Simo previously led AGI Deployment at OpenAI, essentially the No. 2 position, and left in July citing health reasons while continuing to advise part-time. Her background includes taking Instacart public in 2023 and over a decade at Meta, including heading the Facebook app.
CEO Josh Payne said Simo understands scaling products used by billions and the demands they place on underlying systems, aligning with Nscale‘s mission. Nscale designs, builds, and operates AI data centers and has seen its valuation soar in two years on AI infrastructure demand. According to Bloomberg, the startup is reportedly raising up to $3.5 billion ahead of the planned IPO.
