Wabi raises $55M at $1.25B valuation to become a personal AI agent

Wabi, the AI app founded by Eugenia Kuyda — who previously founded the AI companion startup Replika — has raised $55 million at a $1.25 billion valuation. IVP led the round, with participation from Andreessen Horowitz, Forerunner, Amazon Alexa Fund, and angels including Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, former Yahoo! head Marissa Mayer, former Twitter CEO Dick Costolo, and The Chainsmokers’ Alex Pall.
The company originally focused on letting anyone build apps from prompts. Last month it announced a pivot to become an AI messenger, presenting Wabi 2.0 as a personal agent that can build the interfaces you need to get things done. The article lists example mini apps Wabi could generate: meal planning, tracking local restaurants, planning date nights, fitness plans, and customized trivia games.
The funding suggests investors back Wabi‘s agentic direction amid broader momentum for AI agents. IVP general partner Alex Lim said Kuyda ‘has a unique sense for where AI is headed and a track record of great taste in building it,’ and praised her vision of AI interaction ‘that goes far beyond the text box or command line.’ The article also contextualizes the round against other recent AI-agent funding, including Instinct’s billion-dollar raise at a $10 billion valuation and Tolan’s $30 million raise.
