Shipt launches AI shopping assistant ‘Ask Shipt’ for custom carts

Shipt, the same-day delivery platform owned by Target, announced the launch of “Ask Shipt,” an AI-powered shopping assistant integrated into its app and website.

The tool lets users generate customized shopping carts by entering natural-language prompts, such as “Create a cart for my Saturday tailgate for 25 people and include some brunch items” or “Build a cart for easy school lunches and after-school snacks.

” It also supports photo-based requests, identifying ingredients from an uploaded image of a dish, and budget-conscious queries like “a weeknight meal for a family of five under $35.

” The launch places Shipt among a growing number of delivery platforms incorporating AI assistants, following Instacart’s debut of its Clementine assistant and earlier similar offerings from Uber Eats and DoorDash.

This move also aligns with Target‘s broader adoption of AI features on its own e-commerce site, including photo search and customer review summaries.

Ask Shipt is available starting now in the Shipt app and on Shipt.com.
