Palantir CEO Alex Karp used his company’s blockbuster quarterly results as a platform to attack AI frontier labs, accusing them of behaving like the ‘capitalists who gave rise to Marxist socialism.

‘ In Palantir‘s Q2 shareholder letter, Karp wrote that “others, including many of those building large language models, intend, knowingly or otherwise, to capture the means of production of their purported partners.

” Palantir reported $1.9 billion in revenue, up 93% over the same quarter last year, and $1.1 billion in profit.

Karp noted the company made “more profit in a single quarter than we did in total revenue in the same period the year before.

” During the earnings call, he argued that enterprises paying for frontier AI models are effectively funding their own displacement.

“You are paying for the right for them to migrate your IP, your know-how, your expertise to their model, so that they can build a competitive business that doesn’t require your business or people,” he said.

He framed the dynamic in moral terms, suggesting AI lab leaders believe “they are superior to you” and “deserve to colonize your enterprise.

” Palantir positions itself as the alternative: model-agnostic AI and analysis software that lets organizations control both their data and their AI “exhaust” (prompts, orchestration, and context).

Karp’s critique is not entirely isolated; the article notes that Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has expressed similar concerns about AI labs that partner with enterprises while launching competing businesses in areas such as design, healthcare, and drug discovery.
