How RingCentral builds AI-native work from engineering to ops

RingCentral, a $2.6B business communications company, ran an AI-Native Challenge that gave every employee access to ChatGPT Work and Codex with no mandated workflow. Thousands of participants—including non-technical staff and executives—built complete end-to-end projects, from planning to CI/CD. The company applies the same pattern to accelerate its own AI product portfolio (AIR, AVA, ACE).

Non-engineering teams have also adopted the tools. The Program Management Office built an operating system for program management on ChatGPT Work, replacing scattered notes with automated status reporting that pulls from Jira, Google Sheets, and CRM. The PMO now walks into meetings with blockers, owners, and actions already defined, reducing manual coordination.

RingCentral’s leadership emphasizes that AI-native development amplifies engineers rather than replacing them: humans remain in the loop for product requirements, architectural decisions, and verification. The exercise is a working model for compressing the distance between an idea and a shipped feature.
