Hint: AI Home Management App Co-Founded by Martha Stewart

Hint is a new AI-powered app for homeowners, co-founded by Martha Stewart, that launched today. The app aims to be a central hub for home management, covering maintenance schedules, energy management, soil and air quality information, insurance claims guidance, and document storage. Users begin by entering their home address, and Hint builds a profile from public data such as property records, weather, soil information, and utilities. Homeowners can upload documents like inspection reports, warranties, mortgages, and insurance policies. They can also photograph major appliances, which lets the app provide personalized maintenance instructions and a schedule that sends proactive push notifications. The app generates an overall “home score” that summarizes how well the home is being managed. An in-app AI chatbot allows users to ask questions about their home and documents — for example, when the AC was last serviced, the cost per kilowatt hour, whether a HELOC makes sense, or details about homeowner’s insurance deductibles and coverage.
Hint originally started in 2024 as a tool focused on decarbonization incentives but quickly pivoted to a broader home management assistant. Co-founder and CTO Kyle Rush, who previously led engineering at Casper and served as CTO at Maisonette, says the team realized people lacked a single app to manage their homes. Martha Stewart lives near Rush and is “very involved” as a true co-founder with equity, not a figurehead. She reviews the app twice a week, providing feedback on soil information accuracy, design, branding, and language from her decades of experience managing homes. CEO Yih-Han Ma was previously SVP and GM at Red Ventures.
Under the hood, Hint uses commercial AI libraries, primarily OpenAI, along with Gemini for image processing. The app is currently free on iOS without subscriptions or ads. It generates affiliate revenue from a partner network of service providers, which Rush says is firewalled from the AI to avoid biased recommendations. Future plans include a premium subscription for power users needing to manage multiple properties. Hint has raised $10 million from investors including Brian Kelly (The Points Guy), Slow Ventures, Tusk Venture Partners, Energy Impact Partners, Amplo VC, and Hannah Grey.
