Chrome’s AI autofill pulls form data from Gmail

Google is rolling out an AI-powered upgrade to Chrome autofill that draws on Gmail content. The browser can suggest details such as flight confirmation numbers, membership IDs, tracking information, order numbers, addresses, phone numbers, and credit card numbers by referencing email. The feature extends Google’s Personal Intelligence, which already connects Google apps to Gemini to retrieve details and answer complex questions.
Users can turn enhanced autofill on or off from Chrome settings, and Google says sensitive data is encrypted. The rollout targets U.S. users on desktop and in the iOS and Android apps for Gemini in Chrome. TechCrunch notes the change is seemingly minor but could make Chrome stickier and keep users inside Google’s AI ecosystem, comparing it to Apple’s automatic detection of verification codes from texts.
