ChatGPT Ads Expands to 26 New Countries as Advertiser Base Tops 100,000

OpenAI is expanding ChatGPT Ads to 26 additional countries, bringing availability to 89 countries worldwide. The move follows recent expansions across Europe, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan, as well as earlier launches in Mexico and Brazil. More than 1.2 billion people use ChatGPT each week, and according to OpenAI, over 100,000 advertisers have run campaigns on the platform since ads launched just over eight months ago.
Ads will appear only on the Free and Go plans; Plus, Pro, and Enterprise subscriptions remain ad-free. OpenAI frames advertising as a way to support free and low-cost access to ChatGPT while keeping its mission that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity. The 26 new countries include 14 in Latin America—Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Peru among them—plus Nigeria, South Africa, Serbia, Ukraine, Cambodia, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. Advertisers in these markets can access ChatGPT Ads through technology partners or self-service Ads Manager.
The ad experience is designed for moments when people are exploring options in conversation—for example, a marathon runner planning race-week meals might discover a relevant grocery delivery service. Ads are clearly labeled, kept separate from ChatGPT’s answers, and do not influence those answers. OpenAI states that conversations remain private from advertisers and that customer data is not sold. These protections are guided by OpenAI‘s ads principles.
Looking ahead, OpenAI says the next phase includes new formats, objectives, buying options, and measurement capabilities, plus continued exploration of more native ways for businesses to interact with consumers in ChatGPT. Businesses can learn more at ads.openai.com.
