Amazon adds 100+ shopping features to Alexa ahead of holidays

Amazon has added more than 100 new shopping-related capabilities to Alexa, rolling them out ahead of the holiday season. The update focuses on practical shopping tasks: users can create shopping lists, register them, view items, and add or edit entries. List management is paired with subscription controls, so a shopper can ask Alexa to change a recurring delivery, for example shifting an item from monthly to every three months. Delivery instructions can also be edited through the bot, including changing an address or adding drop-off details.
Beyond lists and deliveries, Alexa can now field questions about Prime and Audible subscriptions as well as billing and payment issues. This makes Alexa a more direct assistant for resolving account-level shopping problems rather than just retrieving product information.
The announcement continues Amazon‘s broader push into AI-centric commerce this year. Amazon has already launched a shopping assistant and a feature for notifying users about new products and offers. The company reports that the number of people using agentic features has grown 8x since the start of the year, and that over 400 million consumers have used Alexa for shopping in the last 12 months.
