OpenAI and Oracle expand partnership, bringing Oracle apps into ChatGPT

OpenAI and Oracle are deepening their commercial relationship by integrating Oracle applications and data into ChatGPT, while also using OpenAI models to power new Oracle products. The partnership spans the OpenAI API, ChatGPT Work, and Codex, with Oracle reporting 130,000 active ChatGPT users and more than 95,000 active Codex users. Oracle‘s recruiting team, for example, uses ChatGPT Work for market research that previously took two to four days to compile and now takes 15–20 minutes of preparation.
The two companies describe a shared vision for an agent-ready enterprise, where people and AI agents work across business applications in one connected environment. Their stated goal is to make Oracle software easier to discover, use, and manage, with simpler administration, unified sign-in, and access governed by each organization’s permissions and approvals. The intended result is helping businesses scale AI across core operations and get more value from existing software.
To bring that vision into ChatGPT, Oracle is developing Oracle AI Workspace, an integration layer for Oracle applications and data. Users would describe what they need to accomplish, find relevant information, and complete approved business workflows in one place. The article gives an example: a new finance team member could use ChatGPT to investigate costs, understand purchasing decisions, and identify what remains before month-end close, with information drawn together from finance, procurement, and planning applications, all within the organization’s permissions.
Alongside Oracle AI Workspace, Oracle announced several offerings built with OpenAI models and tools. Oracle AI Security Mesh is designed to help customers find and fix vulnerabilities in applications and infrastructure using OpenAI cyber models, with Oracle managing the testing infrastructure to keep usage safe and within authorized scope. Oracle AI SMB Bundle combines ChatGPT Business and Codex with Oracle applications and recurring Oracle Cloud Infrastructure credits, aimed at helping small businesses build products and manage operations. Oracle App Composer is designed to help teams build apps with Codex and other AI tools, connect them to approved Oracle data and workflows, and share them internally, with Oracle managing deployment on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and incorporating company permissions and access controls.
On the procurement side, Oracle customers in the U.S. can now buy access to the OpenAI API, Codex, and ChatGPT Work through Oracle Marketplace, using existing procurement processes and eligible Oracle Universal Credits. This makes it easier for existing Oracle customers to adopt OpenAI services without changing their purchasing workflow. The announcement frames the partnership as mutual: OpenAI gains a broader enterprise distribution channel, while Oracle gains AI capabilities embedded in its product portfolio and marketplace offerings.
