Anthropic files for IPO under ticker ANT

Anthropic officially filed for its initial public offering on Monday, after weeks of leaked S-1 drafts. The company plans to list under the ticker ‘ANT’ and reported $16.3 billion in revenue for the first half of 2026, up from $1.2 billion in the same period a year earlier. Operating losses narrowed to $693 million from $2.1 billion, but net loss reached $80.7 billion, which Anthropic attributes largely to noncash accounting adjustments tied to convertible debt. The filing warns that the company ‘may not achieve or sustain profitability in the future.’

The filing also details Anthropic‘s enterprise customer base: as of the end of September, it had more than 11,900 customers spending $100,000 or more annually, 1,900 spending $1 million or more, and around 250 spending $10 million or more. Corporate governance will keep control with the seven co-founders through a ‘Founder LLC‘ that will hold 50.1% of shareholder voting power, a structure Anthropic says is meant to preserve its AI safety mission. The Long-Term Benefit Trust, created in 2023, will appoint most board members. The governance setup is controversial because voting power will not track economic ownership, leaving public shareholders little practical control over a company that acknowledges its technology poses ‘catastrophic or existential risks to humanity.’ Anthropic has not yet disclosed the amount it hopes to raise or its proposed share price.
