Google Photos’ AI virtual closet launches on Android and iOS

Google Photos has launched its AI-powered virtual closet feature for all users in the U.S., Brazil, and India on both Android and iOS. The feature, announced earlier this year, was first rolled out to Android users in June. It uses AI to create a digital copy of a user’s wardrobe from outfits appearing in their photos. Users can filter items by category—tops, bottoms, jewelry, and more—and mix and match pieces to create outfits. Google says the feature is designed to assist users and that data about clothing choices is not shared with third parties such as retailers.

The rollout accompanies several other Google Photos updates. Gemini Spark lets users select, brighten, and share photos with a single prompt, but it requires a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription in the U.S. The Markup tool gains a redacting pen for blurring sensitive information like license plates, precise thickness sliders for sketches, and additional font options for adding text. Android users also get new photo filters called Moods, which offer looks such as 35mm film and 2000s digicam.
