Instinct AI assistant introduces dedicated email addresses for autonomous tasks

Instinct, an AI assistant valued at $2.5 billion, is rolling out a new feature: every user gets an Instinct email address.

Founder Noah Shinn announced on X that the AI can use this dedicated email to create and manage its own accounts on external services, contact businesses, and follow up on tasks—without cluttering the user’s personal inbox.

For example, Instinct might email a restaurant for a special request, ask about availability, or sign up for a service needed to complete a task.

Users can also forward emails to the Instinct address when the assistant needs specific information, such as an order confirmation for handling a return.

The bot can be added to group threads to track conversations and will check back with the user when input is required, otherwise acting autonomously.

This email feature builds on recent updates: a partnership with 1Password to enable logins to users’ existing accounts, and a collaboration with Stripe for payment processing, allowing Instinct to book trips, classes, appointments, and make purchases.

Location sharing was also introduced so the assistant can suggest nearby businesses or map routes based on the user’s current position.

Users can ask questions about location history, like where they parked or where they ate last month.

The article also includes a brief bio of the TechCrunch reporter, Sarah Perez, noting her background in IT and prior work at ReadWriteWeb, with contact information.
