Anthropic Announces Enterprise Frontier Safeguards for Data Privacy

Anthropic announced Enterprise Frontier Safeguards (EFS), a solution that combines zero data retention (ZDR) with automated safeguards for detecting misuse, designed for enterprise customers using frontier models like Claude Fable 5.
1. EFS addresses the tension between the need for data retention to detect sophisticated misuse across sessions and accounts, and the privacy requirements of regulated industries.
With EFS, activity data is stored in the customer’s own cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) under their encryption keys and access policies, not Anthropic‘s.
Automated monitoring analyzes a rolling window of traffic for signals of serious misuse (e.g.
, offensive cyber or biological capabilities, stolen credentials) and sends flags directly to the customer, with no Anthropic human review.
Customers can also choose to store data in their own cloud account, with storage billed by the cloud provider.
EFS was developed in collaboration with over 100 customers across financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, telecom, law, retail, and public sector, including the Analysis and Resilience Center for Systemic Risk (ARC) whose members include CISOs from Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Citi, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo, as well as companies like Comcast, KPMG, Mastercard, Salesforce, and Visa.
The solution is opt-in for customer-owned storage, customer-managed encryption keys, and fully automated review, and does not change model behavior, API pricing, or rate limits.
Anthropic does not charge for EFS. EFS will roll out in phases starting later this fall, with eligible customers receiving ZDR on Fable 5 and Fable 5.1 until EFS is ready.
EFS will be supported on Claude Code, Claude Enterprise, Claude Platform, Amazon Bedrock, Claude Platform on AWS, Google’s Agent Platform, and Microsoft Foundry.
The article also includes endorsements from partners such as Snowflake, Stripe, Rogo, Cognition, Factory, and others, emphasizing that EFS enables frontier AI use with data staying in customer-controlled environments.
