Bot-detection startup Spur nabs $200M from Insight

Spur Intelligence, a cybersecurity startup based in Lake Mary, Florida, has raised a $200 million round led by Insight Partners.
Founded in 2017 by two former Defense Department engineers, Spur helps enterprises distinguish legitimate human users from bot traffic, particularly as criminal VPNs and proxy networks proliferate.
The funding comes as bots have surpassed human traffic online for the first time, according to Cloudflare.
Insider’s Thomas Krane noted that organizations can see activity but not the infrastructure behind it.
Spur’s prescient founding predates the ChatGPT era, highlighting the growing challenge of fake users and threats.
