Meta launches free AI image generator Muse across its apps

Meta has rolled out Muse, a free AI image generator built by its Meta Superintelligence Labs.

The feature, code-named Mango, is available inside the Meta AI app, Instagram Stories, and WhatsApp.

The use cases are familiar: users generate cartoonish images from prompts, apply preset prompts to spark ideas, or edit existing photos by describing changes like removing a photobomber or swapping a background.

Meta also positions Muse for practical applications, such as mocking up custom ads or visualizing what a used couch from Facebook Marketplace might look like in your garage.

Alongside the generator, Meta is launching new AI effects for Instagram Stories that rely on Muse‘s underlying model.
